Overlay Panel Wainscoting
Overlay Panel wainscoting is a combination of flat panel and raised panel wainscoting. Overlaid wainscoting consist of a sturdy flat panel that has antoher panel bonded to it, leaving the back panel exposed around the edes. It mimics the true solid-wood raised panel. You can also simply mount a flat wood panel with shaped edges directly on the drywall. This style is associated with neoclassical design; think of Old English castles and dark, cozy libraries. This feels like a modern take on a classic as its similar to raised panel but with a board across the middle allowing for a more elaborate design but is follows the same principles as the raised panel style. They too can be applied directly to a wall underneath a chair rail and above the baseboard for an easy project.
